Youth Symphony
The 2007-2008 SYSO season is shaping up to be our best ever. What makes this statement true are the musicians, whose musical lives are brought together once a week to form the orchestra. At the beginning of the season, I reminded the students that what makes this experience

significant is that SYSO provides them the opportunity to “test” the

music education lessons they have received (and learned). Because our

group has one 2-hour rehearsal weekly, the time spent preparing the

ensemble for this difficult music is significantly less than the amount

of time most of them receive in the public school setting. Without well

trained, thoughtful and artistic-minded students, this endeavor would no

doubt fail. But if the performance by the orchestra last May is any

indication, than this effort is flourishing. My thanks to all of the music teachers, parents and students who have created the fertile ground

for SYSO to grow in. Hope to see you on December 9th as we present “An

Afternoon with the Three B’s -Bernstein, Barber and Brahms”

Philharmonia

It is great to be back! I am excited to be here again after a year off with my little ones.

Philharmonia is off to a strong start with a great set of auditions establishing a high level of ability and skill in our orchestra. We have a great program of music including Bacchanale from Samson & Delilah, Sinfonia in A Minor by Telemann, Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, and Slavonic

Dance No. 8 by Dvorak.

Our ensemble is always looking for growth and the word of the Philharmonia members and their parents goes long way with potential players so spread the good news. You are always welcome to attend and listen to our rehearsals. I look forward to seeing you all throughout the fall.

Amadeus

Hello Amadeus Players,

We have started our year with a great group. We have many new faces this year and that is always exciting. Our orchestra can always grow, so if you know talented string musicians out there, we would love to have them in our Amadeus Strings. We are playing some challenging pieces from Fiddling music to the great Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. We look forward to our rehearsal and get to know one another Retreat at the 4-H Center on November 2nd and 3rd. We always have a great time together and even accomplish much with our music. This year’s group shows great potential and parents are even talking about their great progress in the first two rehearsals. Great job group!!
